The Catskill Schoolhouse

established in 1868

In 1868, “School No. 19” was built as a one-room schoolhouse servicing the residents of District No 19 in Ulster County. Surrounded by open farmland, the Schoolhouse sat atop Lackawack Hill. The school taught students of all ages though the entire school consisted less than 15 students at a time. In the 1950’s the one-room schoolhouses in the area consolidated into a larger school elsewhere, and the building was sold to a private owner. Since then, many renovations around the original walls and expansions have made it into the cozy home it is today.
